Our Houses
Our accommodations, Casa da Ribeira and Casa Principal, are nestled in the beautiful bay of Praia Formosa. Situated where two streams meet, the location offers a unique sense of tranquility and connection with nature. The property consists of two architecturally distinct houses: a traditional ‘Mariense’ home and a charmingly converted water mill.The main house, Casa Principal, is a typical Santa Maria dwelling featuring two bedrooms that can sleep up to four guests, along with an open-plan kitchen and living area. Outside, you’ll find an excellent barbecue space and a relaxation area beside one of the streams, where the soothing sound of water enhances your stay. The Mill house is a cozy studio perfect for a solo traveler or a couple, also offering its own barbecue and streamside relaxation area.

Our houses are located in the stunning Praia Formosa Bay, on Santa Maria island, Azores. This privileged spot sits at the confluence of two streams, providing an environment of exceptional tranquility and a deep connection with the surrounding nature.Located on the southernmost Azorean island with the most sunshine hours, the houses benefit from proximity to one of the archipelago’s rare white sand beaches. Enjoy the mild climate and turquoise waters that characterise this unique area of Santa Maria, in Vila do Porto.
Our Services
At Azorinsitu, we offer unique accommodation in two distinct properties located in Praia Formosa: the traditional Casa Principal, perfect for families or groups of up to four, and the charming Casa do Moinho (Water Mill), an ideal studio retreat for solo travellers or couples. Both houses provide comfortable lodging with a connection to nature.To enhance your stay on Santa Maria, guests have complimentary access to an electric bicycle and a paddle board, perfect for exploring the local area and the beautiful bay. Each house also features its own private outdoor barbecue and relaxation area by the stream. Please note there is a minimum stay requirement of four nights.
